It’s Just That This Blog Is… Very Aware of Itself

Hi, I’m Kyle.

This is the blog I started when I was 13.

Hello. I enjoy reading your blog and I think you are a gifted writer. However I was surprised by the way you responded to Mean Girls. Being a highschool girl myself, I have to say that I found the movie quite unrealistic. I find it offensive that teenage girls are portrayed in such a phenomenally shallow and whore-like way in that movie. I was also surprised that you thought this movie was so realistic. Perhaps you weren’t in the best mood while writing the review, but the review seemed a bit demeaning and insulting to the popluation of high school girls. Just for the record, ya’know. This wasn’t supposed to come across as offensive- but just sayin’.

I think that the the film really depended on the interpretation of the characters and the realism of which someone saw it. Perhaps I may have been demeaning and overly presumptuous about the realism of who people are and how they act. While I certainly enjoyed the film as a whole, I may have been a bit too praising on some of the lesser qualities of the human nature. But nevertheless, I’m glad you enjoy my reviews. There are cliques and they can be nasty. Not as nasty as portrayed in the review or the film, but nasty. If you would like me to publish a “On Second Thought” article let me know. Thank you for your constructive criticism and it did not come off as offensive at all. I’m actually very thankful for your input. THANKS! 😀

Nah, Kyle had it pegged while people aren’t going to the extremes of Mean Girls in terms of revenge, most high school girls are cliquey gossipy and backstabby. The movie was a caricature of the deterioration of social grace in the face of lower moral standards.

Hi! I chanced upon your blog through the 1973 Supporting Actress Smackdown podcast from The Film Experience. I really want to say that your film writings are inspiring and really sincere. I am currently a final year film student from Singapore, and only recently awoken myself up form a lull period. So I am trying to get started on writing about film and working towards my goal of being an aspiring filmmaker. My aim is to do a longterm film internship in the States after graduation. Really hope you would fulfill your dreams and keep writing!
