Une Femme est Une Femme (A Woman is a Woman) (1961) | Directed by Jean-Luc Godard
Thoughts: It could almost be called Godard Does a Sitcom. Mixing in that kind of philosphicall fodder Godard is known for as well as trying to play up the conventions in domestic comedies, Godard’s film is very unique. The self aware humor, breaking the fourth wall and Belmondo saying “Breathless is on TV, I don’t want to miss it), is amusing at times. The soundtrack, which could be diegetic or non-diegetic depending on the scene, is fascinating and all part of Godard’s puzzle. Anna Karina is wonderful.
